Blogging is something very new to me.I have been thinking of doing one for a very long time and somehow I just don't know what to write about so i just get discouraged and think "Ok I will do it another day".Years have passed by since I started thinking and finally I decided to start one ....... today
Well what should I blog about is something I wounder.....I love so many things and I get confused what should I start with..........But I have made up my mind.......
I have decided to blog what ever I can about "THE ENVIRONMENT,WILDLIFE,NATURE" the reason why These topics have a special place in my heart,I have a great burden to protect, preserve and save mother nature.
Well I have not done a lot of field work apart for the 2 wildlife census I have taken part in and the treks I have done.I wish I could do more field work ,to study the environment and to make an impact with my studies. When I say studies I interested in environmental photography which includes wildlife, landscape photography Hoping to go for an expedition soon to the forests to reguvinate my self and do my field work in environmental photography .
Right now what is on my mind ,I going through times of india's blogs on environment ,my eye caught the attention of a blog written by an assistant editor of times of India Viju B,.Heres is a story of courage in the face of injustice and greed......bunch of people let me say politically powerful people buy an entire creek for some crores of rupees. On top of that these people do illegal sand mining in that region .In a region knowns as Sahyadri or The Western Ghat. The area is one of the world’s ten "Hottest biodiversity hotspots" and has over 5000 species of flowering plants, 139 mammal species, 508 bird species and 179 amphibian species. At least 325 globally threatened species occur in the Western Ghats. Its a fragile environment which if put a lot of pressure will begin to deteriorate. Its got one of the rarest flora & fona in the world.
Sand mining of this particular creek is "Bankot creek, 130 km from Mumbai's coast" .The authour of this blog Viju and the Sumaira Abdulali (niece of legendary naturalist Salim Ali) were stopped by goons from the mining mafia including a son of a local politician and threatened with their life, many a times with big lorry ,trucks trying to tip their car off from the ghat section.Gods grace they escaped.
This incident shows how the rich, politically powerful can can do to satisfy their greed at the cost of mother nature. These people really do not know that they digging their own grave ......
As for now I am signing off cos it almost 2 am and I am feeling sleepy
I will be posting more on the how policy makers and our great leaders in name of money , ego systematically destroy our beautiful forests ......
